Kuala Lumpur – The Malaysia Chinese Assembly Hall (MCAH) recently held its Annual General Meeting, during which elections were conducted. Datuk Seri Dr. KK Chai successfully retained his position as President without contest.
Other key positions include Deputy President See Foo Hoong, Vice President Dato Eddie Tan King Song, Dato Alex Wong Che Sing, Dato Goh Gaik Meng JP, Prof Dr Ng Po Kok, and Datuk Patrick Sim Eng Peng; Youth Chief (Vice President) Low Chung King, Women Wing Chief (Vice President) Hew Poh Chin, Secretary General Steven Lee Teng Sun, Assistant Secretary General Datuk Lau Hoi Keong, Treasurer Lim Lay Hooi, Assistant Treasurer Jeffrey Sek Kim Khee.
The 2024 MCAH AGM took place on Saturday (28th) at the MAJU LINK MCAH headquarters, with leaders from various Association member and individual members in attendance.
Datuk Seri Dr. KK Chai, who has been re-elected as President for the fourth consecutive term, highlighted that during the previous term, they achieved three major milestones: establishing a new headquarters, increasing the number of national-level Association members, and elevating the status become Malaysia Chinese Assembly Hall.
“Currently, we have 126 Association members, with over half (66) being national-level. These members represent all states in the country, covering various industries and sectors. Our next goal is to reach 250 Association members and open affiliate membership to international organizations, further enhancing MCAH’s status and representativeness.”
He also noted that approximately 30% of the newly elected council members are fresh faces from Kelantan, Malacca, Johor, and Pahang, bringing MCAH to its objective of becoming a nationwide organization.
“Our future objectives include establishing stronger ties with government agencies, acting as a bridge to convey public voices. We also aim to actively welcome more international delegations, providing our Association members with greater exposure to global visitors, thereby expanding their perspectives and enhancing their value.”
Additionally, he expressed MCAH’s ambition to host major government-supported events, such as the National Level Mid-Autumn Festival, to promote multicultural exchange and social harmony.
“Of course, the future belongs to the younger generation. We will continue to encourage the active participation of the Women’s Wing and the Youth Wing in community activities, attracting more young people to join our family and cultivating future leaders for the nation.”
