Malaysian Chinese Hall Supports Government’s Invitation for Xi Jinping’s Visit to Malaysia, A Key Highlight for the 50th Anniversary of Malaysia-China Diplomatic Relations

Datuk Seri Dr KK Chai, President of the Malaysian Chinese Assembly Hall (MCAH), expressed full support for Malaysia’s invitation to Chinese President Xi Jinping to visit Malaysia. He believes that this visit will be a key highlight for the 50th anniversary of Malaysia-China diplomatic relations!

His statement comes in response to the confirmation by Malaysia’s Ambassador to China, that Malaysia has invited Chinese President Xi Jinping to visit. The goal is to increase the number of Chinese tourists visiting Malaysia to approximately 5 million annually, thus promoting economic growth.

Datuk Seri Dr KK Chai remarked, “With Malaysia implementing a 30-day visa-free entry for Chinese citizens from the 1st of this month, I believe that exchanges and interactions between Malaysia and China in various fields will become more frequent.”

He added, “More importantly, our citizens also enjoy a 15-day visa-free entry to China. This reciprocal gesture reflects the deep relationship between Malaysia and China, especially as we approach the extraordinary 50th anniversary of Malaysia-China diplomatic relations next year.”

Datuk Seri Dr. KK Chai made these statements during a courtesy visit by a delegation from the Micro and Small Enterprises Federation of Zhuhai City, China.

“Granting visa-free entry to Chinese citizens is a celebration of our strategic partnership. This is the first time in Malaysian history. The MCAH has consistently urged the government to waive visas for Chinese visitors to encourage them to come to Malaysia for tourism and business. With the imminent announcement of these measures, we believe this is eagerly anticipated by over 33 million Malaysians nationwide”, he said.

“Combined with Malaysia’s longstanding friendliness towards Chinese visitors and the favorable aspects of Malaysian life, culture, and language, we believe this will have a positive impact on the national economy. As Malaysia’s tourism year falls in 2026, we hope to see more Chinese people visiting and exploring Malaysia in the coming year and offering their support in 2026.”

Datuk Seri Dr. KK Chai pointed out that within Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s first year in office, official visits in April and September resulted in Chinese and Malaysian companies signing memorandums of cooperation worth up to USD 170 billion and USD 19.8 billion, respectively. High-level exchanges between China and Malaysia have been frequent, leading to significant agreements that guide the development of bilateral relations.

He concluded, “China-Malaysia relations continue to maintain strong momentum with practical cooperation. According to Chinese statistics, bilateral trade between China and Malaysia reached USD 106.68 billion in the first seven months of this year (approximately MYR 498.94 billion). Furthermore, China remains Malaysia’s largest trading partner. According to Malaysian statistics, China’s investment in Malaysia reached USD 12.5 billion (approximately MYR 55.4 billion) last year, constituting 33.9% of Malaysia’s foreign direct investment.”

The delegation of nearly 30 people from the Micro and Small Enterprises Federation of Zhuhai City, visited the Malaysian Chinese Assembly Hall to explore business cooperation opportunities between China and Malaysia. The visit aimed to promote collaboration between MCAH, Micro and Small Enterprises Federation of Zhuhai City. Chinese attendees included Federation’s Chief Advisor Huang Zhiqian, Chairman Xu Guangming, Jinwan Branch Chairman Zhou Yifeng, Executive Vice Chairman Liu Haibin, and Cultural Advisor Lin Hai.
